An idea of spreading fun, memories and togetherness...
As a part of our crowdfundng project, our group, Cendoi is making a board game, Jalan Jalan Cuti Makan for all Malaysian buddies ( and international, of course la! ) to celebrate Malaysian life and to enjoy laughing, playing and reminiscing old times like throwing dices and yelling "Kau Hijau!".
Jalan Jalan Cuti Makan is a first original product of Cendoi, made to enjoy by people of all ages. This is a game where the concepts are easy, but don't get mistaken, Its your willingness to take risks and "ong" that will get you through! This game combines the daily issues we Malaysians face every day, and the things we love about being a Malaysian. Suitable for people of all ages, this game is simple yet fun and bound to have your board mates laughing kaw kaw!

Bridging lives without boundaries; The "Misi" (Mission) and the "Visi" (vision)
What started out as an assignment; we found it becoming our platform to share our dreams with our nation and people. Cendoi aims to spread happiness, reminiscing of old, beautiful memories, friendship in the name of celebrating togetherness. Our mission is to foster peace and a sense of care towards people by launching different types of crowdfunding projects; we chose to make a game to start our venture into developing as a group that could potentially grow and be able to launch more projects for various causes such as helping the needy, provide financial support to restorations of animal shelters and even making games like our very own Jalan Jalan Cuti Makan to spread fun and foster close relationships and ties amongst our fellow human beings. Our vision is to grow into a national brand in launching products that foster togetherness and campaigns regarding humanitarian efforts with the goal of maintaining peace and giving warmth to the hearts of the milions of souls on this Earth.
Meet the building blocks of Cendoi
Cendoi is a crowdfunding group consisting of four students (from left to right: Ikmal, Lim Dhi Ven, Tan Jun Ren and Ashvinder) undertaking a Business Skills for Engineers module in Taylor's University. We were given a task to launch a crowdfunding campaign as part of an assignment given to us through this module. While this was meant to be an assignment, Cendoi is looking beyond horizons and we are willing to go the extra mile to make this an ongoing crowdfunding project in the purpose of celebrating our country, Malaysia and to also spread and foster happiness, relationships and regular fun through a medium.
How do we make our ideas come to life?
The game board is designed by our team, using illustrating software and made to be played by anyone, without much confusion, while keeping the playability and enabling different creative playstyles that can be introduced in the game to spice things up. The cards were also designed to be vibrant and reminisce on memories of vacations by collecting memorabilia when visiting places in Malaysia. Our game is produced through a local shop that prints game boards designed on a standard game board material, which is the same as the game boards made for most games in the industry, which consists of printed paper mounted on a cardboard core.
Why crowdfunding?
Cendoi has chosen to promote our project through crowdfunding as it helps us to have a main, justifiable page that can be referred to potential backers and supporters to give them more information and insight concerning our crowdfunding project. Our terms of service could also be improved with the support of our potential backers and further improve our page, services and could also have the possibility of expanding our project with further rewards and options for our buyers.
Budget plans and project costs
We target to raise at least RM 2000 for our crowdfunding campaign to achieve our goals to make our game in bulk, so that our game could be sold to not only our supporters, but also to the general public, families, schools, etc. Conceiving a project that involves the making or manufacturing of products can result in a high funding target. This is also due to the lesser supply of equipment needed to make a board game like ours, as most board games are manufactured overseas. However, the necessary funds would allow us to be able to make our product in a larger amount and would make it possible to send many units of our game to our supporters.
Price per game ≈ RM 150 (including a full set of 3 decks of cards, counters and dices).
While our target budget is capped, we would highly appreciate more help and support from everyone as we not only plan to give our game to only our supporters, but in hopes, we may deliver them to anyone that would love to have and play our game; to share a board of joy among family and friends.
The risks and challenges faced
The team has faced a few challenges in our journey to realize our project. Our first challenge was to conceptualise a game that is both playable by all ages and still retains the fun and playability of the game. Making the game has led to many brainstorming activities and many amendments to our game design concept and playability value. The end results were very satisfactory.
Another challenge we would face is the requirement to make our game in bulk; funds is crucial to the manufacturing of our game and we hope to give our buyers a happy heart and smiles with our game. We hope you will back up our crowdfunding page and help our game take flight into the hearts of people everywhere.
While our goal budget is limited, we plan to further this project in hopes we can get to sell more of our game and spread happiness in every box. Back our startup page and we'll send you some goodies and rewards.
Thank you for your love and support and we hope we reach our goals in spreading love, fun and kaw kaw laughter through our game ;)
